1 Corinthians 2: 9-10a

17 November, 2023

However, as the scripture says, “What no one ever saw or heard, what no one ever thought could happen, is the very thing God prepared for those who love him.” But it was to us that God made known his secret by means of his Spirit. 1 Corinthians 2:9–10a

Dear God, in your supreme wisdom of the inherent fickleness of mortals and the transitory nature of the wisdom of man, you have chosen to reveal the secrets of your Kingdom not to the worldly wise but to the spirituality mature, however humble their stature. You lead us through the intricate paths you have perfected for us, and it is only under your guidance that we are able to traverse life’s journey and reach the heavenly shores.

Your ways are mysterious, O Lord, as you laud and richly reward the poor in spirit who seek your face with devout abandonment. Lord, you reveal the eternal heritage of your Kingdom to the humble, but from the conceited mortals, chasing after worldly riches and accomplishments with no regard for the Creator of all things, you turn your face away. Bless us all, through your Spirit, that we may find certainty of heart in community with you, under your rulership and your dominion.

May we cherish this surety of our trust in you unblemished, even in the most arduous trials and persecutions, for we belong to you and acknowledge you as our Father in heaven. Lord, stay with us, as we surrender ourselves in total and absolute abandonment to you, for we trust in your faithfulness. Grant us solace and peace in the present times, we your children ask, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
