1 Samuel 3:10

26 January, 2024

Now the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, ‘Samuel! Samuel!’ And Samuel answered, ‘Speak, for Your servant hears.”
1 Samuel 3:10

Almighty God, our Lord, our Father, we know that being Omnipresent, you are with us and yet, because of our mortal nature, our sinfulness, our waywardness, even when you call out to us, we do not hear or recognise or pay heed to your voice. We are immersed in our worldly ways and when trouble finds and besets us, we look for you, we turn to you, we long for you, we yearn for your presence, but our greatest misfortune is when we fail to recognize your voice and feel your presence.

Teach us, Abba Father, through your Word, how to recognise and follow your voice, to be able to correctly discern the truth from what is false and imaginary. Help us filter the real from the illusion, so that we avoid the destructive paths of the evil one and heed the counsel of your Holy Spirit, helping us to know truth from lie. Help us to know You more, to recognize Your voice, and in turn, to hear You. Help us to avoid mistaking the hollow din of this earth with the pure and peaceful heavenly chants of the celestial beings surrounding you.

We pray that we will learn your voice Lord, as you comfort us in our miseries, as you bless us and console and comfort us, as we, filled with your inner peace, seek you to pour our hearts out in gratitude to you, and spend more time with you and in your Word. Lord , cover us with your grace and your mercy, with your love, peace and blessings, to stay safe and secure as we rest in your enduring promises of being with us, till the end of time. Speak to us Lord and we will listen in humility and obedience, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
