2 Corinthians 4:18

26 June, 2024

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” – 2 Corinthians 4:18

Heavenly Father, we come before You in awe and gratitude, seeking to understand and embody the wisdom of Your Word. Lord, in our daily lives, we are often consumed by the visible and the tangible. We are surrounded by the hustle and bustle, the demands and distractions of the world. It is easy to lose sight of what truly matters, to be overwhelmed by the temporary challenges and fleeting joys. Yet, Your Word calls us to a higher vision, to fix our eyes on the unseen, the eternal.

Help us, Father, to shift our focus from the transient to the everlasting. Grant us the spiritual clarity to see beyond the physical, to perceive the eternal truths and promises that You have laid before us. May we not be swayed by the impermanent things that vie for our attention and affections, but be anchored in the eternal hope and glory that You offer. In moments of trial and tribulation, remind us that these sufferings are temporary and that they are working in us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison. Strengthen our faith to endure, knowing that our present struggles are momentary afflictions, compared to the eternal joy that awaits us.

Lord, we acknowledge that this perspective requires faith and trust in Your promises, even when we cannot see the full picture. Increase our faith, O God. As we fix our eyes on the unseen, may we also grow in our desire to know You more intimately. Draw us closer to Your heart, that we might understand the depth of Your love, the breadth of Your grace, and the eternal nature of Your kingdom. Transform our hearts and minds to reflect Your eternal perspective, that we might live lives of purpose, peace, and hope. Thank You, Father, for the assurance that what is unseen is eternal and unchanging. May we find comfort and courage in this truth, and may it shape every aspect of our lives. In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
