The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. – 2 Peter 3:9
Heavenly Father, you have created your world to perfection and for everything you have ordained a time and a season. Not a leaf falls or a stone turns, without your knowledge and consent. That’s how precise and meticulous are your plans and their implementation, that’s how specific and infallible, your governance. Time obeys your commands and the promises which emanate from you are never void, but hasten to fulfillment.
Yet, you make allowances for man, for we are neither punctual nor perfect in anything we undertake and are prone to doubt and suspicion, even concerning you, our magnificent God and worker of miraculous and wondrous deeds. You know our fickle nature, how slow we are to belief and how we hasten to question even the plans of our mighty God. The weakness of our faith, the degree of our impatience, is plain to you Lord.
You pardon all our inadequacies based on our long suffering lives, waiting patiently for us to reform, as you have already counted us among the elect, which indeed, all dying to the world, with Christ, and rising with him to partake in eternal salvation through rebirth in the Spirit are. Lord, show us your mercy and compassion, for we abide in faith in your promises and take comfort in believing that all penitent sinners, you will hold close and deliver, to a heritage as your children in our heavenly abode, in the Name of Jesus our Lord. Amen
