OBEYING GOD GIVES PEACE

Great peace have those who love Your law, and nothing causes them to stumble. Lord, I hope for Your salvation, and I do Your commandments. – Psalms 119:165-166

When we submit to God’s Word it brings true peace. God gave us His Law, not to be a harsh Father, but to benefit us  Only when we do His will, we succeed in keeping our peace and sparing ourselves pain and suffering. As Moses wrote in Deuteronomy 4:40 “you shall therefore keep His statutes and His commandments which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children…” For things to go right and us to prosper in life, we need to follow God’s instructions.

When we sin, our peace and joy is much diminished, but when we love God’s Law, we know it is best for us and obey it. While we live in obedience to God’s Word, the devil has no right to hurt us, because we have no unforgiven sin to condemn us. We live right, loving, and obeying God, and because we are under the New Covenant, our sins are forgiven and washed away by Jesus’ blood. All who die in Christ are saved and will enter the gates of heaven.

SUGGESTED PRAYER

Eternal God, thank You for Your Word that teaches us how to live right. Submitting to Your instructions brings me great peace and comfort, because I know that I am protected and secure in You and nothing can snatch me out of Your hand. I am in the safest place, and I can have Your peace, that surpasses all understanding and nothing can condemn me. Please help me love and obey You, so that my salvation is secured. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen
