THE 6th OF NOVEMBER
AS CHRISTIANS, WE ARE NO LONGER BOUND BY THE LAW; INSTEAD, WE ARE CALLED TO LIVE A RENEWED LIFE THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT
“For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in our members, resulting in death. But now, having been freed from the law by dying to what once bound us, we can serve in the new way of the Spirit, not in the old way of the written code.” — Romans 7:5-6
When we lived according to our carnal nature, we were ensnared by sin. The law highlighted sin, igniting within us desires that led to actions resulting in death. Despite our efforts to avoid sin, we were powerless on our own, trapped by a nature that pulled us away from God. The law, though it revealed sin, couldn’t liberate us from our sinful desires.
But now, through Christ’s sacrifice, we have died to sin, releasing us from the law’s hold and its penalties. We are now free to choose obedience to God, guided by love rather than the strict requirements of the law. No longer are we burdened with the need to make sacrifices for our sins, for Jesus’ sacrifice has cleansed us once and for all. The Holy Spirit, who brought us new life, now teaches and leads us, nurturing a desire to follow God’s will as we grow in our relationship with Him.
SUGGESTED PRAYER
Thank You, Lord, for the incredible grace given through Your New Covenant. By offering Yourself as the perfect sacrificial Lamb, You fulfilled the law and opened a way for me. Now I can serve You out of love, free from the weight of trying to fulfill every commandment perfectly. You see my heart—help me to keep it surrendered and sincere, ready to receive Your grace and follow the Holy Spirit’s leading. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for the precious gift of salvation and the righteousness found only in You. Amen
