Romans 5: 8

7 December, 2024

But God proves his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. – Romans 5:8

Abba Father, Powerful, Everloving God, the measure of your love for mankind is truly a mysterious blessing for us all, who are sinful, wicked, human beings, falling repeatedly into the heinous snares of wickedness. The everlasting destruction and damnation of such beings would be justice on your part. But instead, your unfathomable love worked to destroy the enemy and save mankind for eternity, from lasting condemnation.

Your ways, Lord, surpass all human and finite comprehension, because they represent the perfection of your Being. Christ Jesus, our Savior and Messiah, died for us sinners, to save us from our sins. And we were yet sinners when he died for us, sinning against him by betraying and crucifying him. But you designed to deliver us, to work a great change, through the message of your new covenant of love, bringing us into a state of faith by Christ’s resurrection and ascension, that would transform us to righteousness with the beneficence of your grace and adoption to sonship.

The evil, from which the deliverance rescued us is more dreadful than natural death, which we are compelled to undergo, to attain a state of spiritual worthiness and eternal life in your heavenly kingdom. By Divine grace you brought us to repent, and to believe in Christ, and have faith in his atonement of our sins. We thank you Father, for your mercy and compassion, by which we believers not only rejoiced in the hope of heaven, and even in our mortal tribulations for Christ’s sake, but are gloried in you also, as our unchangeable and all-sufficient Portion, our Father, through Christ our Lord. Amen
