BY JESUS’ STRIPES, WE WERE HEALED
“He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness. By His stripes, you were healed.” – 1 Peter 2:24
The apostle Peter reflects on the fulfillment of a prophecy made by Isaiah, nearly 700 years before the crucifixion of Jesus. This highlights the depth of God’s love for us—sending His Son to bear the punishment for our sins. Jesus endured suffering, taking on our sicknesses, infirmities, pains, and sorrows, removing their cause so we could receive healing and wholeness in His Name.
Through faith in Jesus and His sacrifice, we have died to sin and now live for righteousness. Because we were redeemed by His blood, our lives belong to Him, the One who gave His life for us. By His stripes, inflicted on the cross, we have been healed—these were the only recorded wounds Jesus endured, and He bore them for our sake.
SUGGESTED PRAYER
Father God, thank You for Your Word, which assures me that I was healed by the stripes of Jesus. If I was healed then, I declare that I am healed now. I choose to walk by faith, not by sight, accepting this truth and rebuking all symptoms and pain in Jesus’ Name. I exercise the authority You have given me to resist the devil, standing firm in Your promises. All glory and honor to Your Holy Name. Amen
