Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, bears much fruit, for without Me you can do nothing. – John 15:4-5
God of Righteousness and Infinite Majesty, your Power and Glory have been witnessed and testified to throughout the ages, by the prophets of old. But the greatest testimony of your Being, came from your only begotten Son, Who you sent on this earth, incarnate, made flesh, to teach us, and to give us a living testimony of his Father’s greatness, as also to reveal your plan of salvation by the willing sacrifice of his flesh and blood, as a ransom for the atonement of the wickedness of man.
Jesus Christ gave us your Holy Gospel, and founded your Holy Church, as its Head. We, his followers, by faith, Christians, by abiding in his words, in his love, abiding in his Spirit, abiding in the Light of his Truth, and walking in his footsteps, are the members of his Sacred Body and Most Precious Blood, committed to a holiness of life and consecrated to devoutly doing your Holy Will, by which our union and communion with Christ is upheld and through which we have been brought to sanctified communion with you, O God.
Lord, we strive everyday, to live in penitent reparation of our sins and according to your plan for our lives, abiding in your perfect love in fervent obedience. Jesus leads us to you, Father, and we beseech you not to cast us away when we wander far from you, lured by evil desires and worldliness. Not we, but you Lord, have divine resources from which we can draw and which provide us with sustenance for our soul. The branch produces what is drawn from the vine. We must come to a recognition that we are not sufficient in ourselves, and we pray that we always stay united in you, through Jesus our Lord. Amen
