I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world. – John 16:33
Lord God, we stand before you, offering our humble oblation of praise and song, for your glory and the magnificence of your works are worthy of the highest honor which should be accorded to our Creator and Master, our King and above all, our Father. You have adopted us as your children and anointed us to be of your chosen ones, for the gift of eternal life and salvation. Christ has already won the victory over death and has distributed his peace to his followers.
Being justified by faith, we have peace with you, through our Lord Jesus Christ, a peace of mind, a serene, temper, and an undisturbed tranquility, so that we might not be troubled and shaken by events of the earth, or turbulence of the spirit, for Christ’s sake, or for our own. For, as long as we are in the world, as mortal human beings, exposed to both bodily and spiritual attacks, we are likely to meet with troubles, which we will certainly come up against, because the world is opposed to accepting Christ, as their Savior and Redeemer.
Jesus has warned us that as disciples, we will have to bear our crosses just as he did. For with Christ being crucified, we no longer live, but have died with Christ, the old self reborn of the Holy Spirit and it is not we who live, but Christ lives in us. Jesus imparts courage to us through the power of the Holy Spirit indwelling in our hearts, whereby we too must overcome the world as soldiers, fighting under Christ, Who overcame the prince of darkness, and cast him out, thus overcoming sin, and we are now more than conquerors, in Christ Jesus. Amen
