LIVING IN THE FEAR OF GOD

“The fear of the Lord leads to life, and whoever has it will rest content, untouched by trouble.” – Proverbs 19:23

The fear of the Lord is not about being afraid, but rather about reverence, honor, and obedience to God’s commandments. This is the only type of fear a Christian should have. It is a healthy fear that helps us resist the desires of the flesh and inspires us to live in a way that pleases God. The more we follow Him, the more we experience joy and contentment. A truly blessed life is one that is lived under God’s guidance. Though we are imperfect and make mistakes, when we rely on the Lord, we are able to make wise decisions that lead to an abundant and blessed life.

God’s Word assures us that those who follow His will can expect a fulfilled life on earth and a perfect, eternal life in heaven, where Jesus has prepared a place for us. While the devil may still try to oppose us, we have the authority in Jesus’ Name to resist him, and God is always ready to provide the help we need. Though sin gives the enemy an opportunity to harm us, when we sincerely repent, God forgives us, and the devil loses his claim. We can rest in the peace and assurance that evil cannot prevail over us.

SUGGESTED PRAYER

Heavenly Father, help me to maintain a healthy fear of You, and give me the strength to resist sin in all circumstances. Guide me to keep Your commandments, follow Your will, and live in a way that pleases You each day. When I stumble, remind me to repent quickly and help me recognize the lies of the enemy so I can resist them in Jesus’ Name. Thank You for Your promises of a blessed life now and for eternity. Help me to fully embrace and use them. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen
