THE LOVE OF BRETHREN
Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, because “All flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers and its flower falls away, but the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you – 1 Peter 1:22-25
Peter reminds us that our lives on earth are temporal, compared to life in eternity and that love is the key, as Christians, to live right and remain in Christ.
The Holy Spirit purifies our souls as we submit to God’s truth, so that we might fervently love our brothers in Christ, with pure hearts. We need to love one another with no hidden agendas or personal gain. We were reborn through the incorruptible Word of God, which changed us into eternal beings that will live forever with the Lord in glory. Those who leave this earth rejecting the Lord until their end, will be separated from God, and forever condemned. It pays to abide in obedience to God, loving Him and also loving one another.
SUGGESTED PRAYER
Thank You Father, for Your love and wisdom. You make all things work in perfect alignment, and by following Your directions, I can live the best life possible. Help me understand and receive Your perfect incomparable love so that I can love others unconditionally and remain with You forever. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
