THE 15th OF MARCH

HUMILITY AND REPENTANCE BRING BLESSINGS

“Because your heart was tender, and you humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I spoke against this place and against its inhabitants, that they would become a desolation and a curse, and you tore your clothes and wept before Me, I also have heard you,” says the Lord. “Surely, therefore, I will gather you to your fathers, and you shall be gathered to your grave in peace; and your eyes shall not see all the calamity which I will bring on this place.” So they brought back word to the king. – 2 Kings 22:19-20

Throughout the Bible, we see instances where God, in His mercy, altered the course of judgment upon those who sincerely repented. Despite their transgressions, He withheld the punishment they deserved in response to their heartfelt prayers. King Josiah’s story is a powerful example of this, revealing that God not only has a perfect will but also a permissive will. Our earnest prayers can move His heart. “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16).

Because of Josiah’s humility and repentance, God extended His grace, postponing judgment upon the nation until after Josiah’s passing.

SUGGESTED PRAYER

Heavenly Father, please guide me in obedience, step by step. Help me to fix my eyes on You, follow the example of Jesus, and understand Your will for my life as I study Your Word. Teach me to obey You fully. You are kind, merciful, and loving, yet You are also holy and just, not ignoring unconfessed sins. Keep my heart pure and sincere before You at all times. I love and praise You with all my heart. Amen
