THE 16th OF JULY
JESUS FULFILLED THE LAW AND DEFEATED SIN FOR US
For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. – Romans 8:3-4
The Law received by the people of Israel through Moses, could not overcome sin, its penalty or power that enslaves people, because of the weaknesses of our human nature. We can be strong and overcome sin, only with the help of the Holy Spirit. Jesus, is the only one who has ever lived in a human body, never sinned and was able to fulfill the law.
The just requirements of the Law are fulfilled in us only through Jesus. But for this to happen, we have to stop living according to the lusts of our carnal nature by obeying the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the teachings and commands of the Word of God.
SUGGESTED PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You so much for sending Your own Son in a human body, to condemn and overcome sin. Thank You Lord Jesus, for redeeming me and for making me righteous through Your sacrifice. Please help me live right, and improve my spiritual hearing so that I may follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I want to follow You, and You alone, dear Lord. Thank You and praise You forever more. Amen.
