THE 2nd OF NOVEMBER
THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT, WE CAN LIVE RIGHTEOUSLY FOR GOD
“I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.” – Romans 6:19
Spiritual truths aren’t easily grasped by the human mind. Just as Christians in Paul’s time, we too are continually growing in our spiritual journey. Throughout our Christian lives, we are gradually maturing.
Before we came to Christ, we were bound to sin, presenting our bodies as slaves to impurity and moral lawlessness. No matter how many times we tried to break the cycle of sin through our own efforts, it wasn’t possible until we were born again. Even if we managed to stop certain behaviors, the cravings of our flesh remained. We didn’t fully realize that some of our habits were sinful until the Holy Spirit opened our eyes through the Word, renewing us from within.
As our minds are renewed, we learn to recognize sin and understand what we need to renounce. The more we focus on godly thoughts and follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance instead of succumbing to the desires of our flesh, the less appealing sin becomes. By choosing to obey God’s righteousness, we move towards holiness—being set apart for His purposes. When we genuinely desire to fulfill God’s plan, worldly distractions lose their hold, allowing us to live truly for Jesus. A mature Christian doesn’t choose a life of sin, and if they do stumble, they repent sincerely and seek God’s forgiveness.
SUGGESTED PRAYER
Thank You, Father God, for saving me and for Your incredible love and grace. I ask for forgiveness for my sins and for the strength to use the talents You’ve given me for Your glory. Help me to renounce sin, live righteously, and grow in spiritual maturity, so I never fall back under the power of sin and grow in the virtue of purity, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
