THE 20th OF FEBRUARY
THE STRENGTH THAT COMES FROM THE LORD
“So he (Elijah) arose, and ate and drank; and he went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights as far as Horeb, the mountain of God.” – 1 Kings 19:8
God allowed Elijah to rest and sent an angel to provide him with fresh bread and water. Imagine how weary he must have been to fall asleep even after witnessing an angel preparing his meal, speaking to him, and serving him! This was no ordinary event—far from it! Yet, Elijah drifted back into slumber. The angel recognized his deep exhaustion, instructing him, “Arise and eat, because the journey is too great for you.” That divine provision gave Elijah supernatural strength, enabling him to travel continuously for forty days and nights.
We have such a loving and caring Father who understands us better than we understand ourselves. He knows exactly what we need. God, as the perfect Father, does not desire for us to be overwhelmed, even when working for the advancement of His kingdom. Sometimes, we may believe that accomplishing more for God will make Him more pleased with us. However, what truly matters to Him is the condition of our hearts and our transformation into His likeness.
SUGGESTED PRAYER
Dear Lord, Your plans are always perfect! You know my needs and what is truly best for me. Please help me not to make decisions without seeking You and not to rely on my own understanding when the Holy Spirit cautions me otherwise. Just as Elijah received divine nourishment, teach me to seek Your presence daily, nourishing my spirit so that I do not grow weary or discouraged. True joy and strength come only from Your Holy Spirit, who dwells within me. Thank You, Lord, for the Holy Spirit, who empowers me to fulfill all that You desire for me. In Jesus’ Name, I pray. Amen
