MONTHLY DEVOTIONAL FOR 22 OCTOBER

THE 22nd OF OCTOBER

THE SACRIFICE OF JESUS REVEALS GOD’S LOVE FOR US

“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by His blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through Him!” – Romans 5:8-9

The Holy Spirit inspired the apostle Paul to continually highlight the depth of God’s love for us. Through Jesus’ sacrifice, we witness the immense love of both the Father and the Son, as they endured great suffering on our behalf. The preceding verse notes that someone might be willing to die for a good person—someone noble, selfless, and righteous. Yet, none of us fit that description, which makes Christ’s sacrifice all the more extraordinary: He died for us while we were still sinners, regardless of the magnitude of our sins.

We didn’t need to become sinless or perfect before coming to Jesus. Once He became our Lord, we were born again through the Holy Spirit, transforming our lives and instilling in us a desire to live in a way that pleases God. Through Jesus’ blood, we have been cleansed, justified, and freed from the guilt of sin. Because He has removed our sins, we are saved from the wrath of God that awaits those who reject Him.

SUGGESTED PRAYER

Thank You, Lord Jesus, for the power of Your blood, which You shed for all sins—past, present, and future—and it never loses its power to cleanse those who truly repent and seek forgiveness. Without You, I could never be counted as sinless, and I can never thank You enough for loving and saving me. All glory and honor be to Your Holy Name, forever and ever. Amen
