THE 23rd OF JULY
WE ARE GOD’S CHILDREN, CO-HEIRS WITH JESUS
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together. Romans 8:16-17
Our spirit is endowed with knowledge, as it is united with the Holy Spirit, after we were reborn in the Spirit. This means that in our inner self, we know that we are the children of God, and know that our special relationship with the Father, brings huge benefits. It awards us citizenship and makes us the Father’s heirs, and co-heirs with Christ as well.
To be God’s children for eternity, we must be willing to pay a price. Though our salvation costs nothing, we need to give up all worldliness, in humble submission and surrender to God. We need to be fully committed to our Lord, for He bore the heavy weight of the Cross for us, in our place. The path to heaven is full of pain, but the path to hell has even more torment and ends up in eternal damnation. It is worth it to suffer for serving the One who suffered first in our place, out of His unconditional love for us. While on this earth, pain and despair is not far away from any of us, but if we choose to live for Jesus we can endure it all, as He is our shelter, our help and our constant protection and support.
SUGGESTED PRAYER
Thank You Lord for granting such a precious purpose to my life. You created me to let my light shine for You and to bring You praise and glory! I am so honoured to be Your co-heir and to know that I can be with You in the perfect place, called heaven. Thank You so very much for coming to this earth and for saving the world by atoning for our sins. I await with joy what you have prepared for me in heaven. Please help me be always true to You, abiding in You as I know that You will abide in me. I worship and adore You dear Lord. Amen
