THE LAW AND THE GRACE OF GOD
Moreover the Law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. – Romans 5:20-21
The Law was given so that it would increase and expand the awareness of the offense, by defining and revealing sin. The benefits that mankind has received through Jesus’ sacrifice are much greater than what we lost through Adam’s sin. Every man is a sinner against God, condemned by the Law and needs forgiveness. For every sin we need the amazing gift of God’s grace to be forgiven and have it removed forever.
The reign of sin brings death and eternal damnation. But the unmerited favor of God, that we have received through Jesus Christ, brings freedom from sin and the power of death, for all who live under His lordship. After we received Jesus in our hearts, we also received His righteousness and entered under the reign of grace, which leads us to eternal life, that we can only have in Jesus.
SUGGESTED PRAYER
Thank You Father God for Jesus, who has acquired for us more privileges than what Adam lost for us through sin. What a huge blessing it is to be Yours! In You I have received all I need for a blessed life here and for all eternity. Thank You for Your righteousness and please help me live in obedience to Your Word and follow You with all my heart. Glory and honor to Your Holy Name, now and forever. Amen
