MONTHLY DEVOTIONAL FOR 29 AUGUST

THE 29th OF AUGUST

GOD DESIRES FOR US TO BE WITH HIM FOREVER

“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” – Philippians 1:6

The Apostle Paul understood that it was God’s grace that initiated a good work in the Philippians, and this truth applies to us today as well. Once we accept God’s grace, we can be assured that God will complete what He has started in us. When we place strong faith in Jesus Christ, our spirits are renewed, but our minds and emotions may not immediately change. For these to transform, it requires determination and effort on our part. However, no matter how much we desire to change, lasting transformation is only possible when we work in partnership with the Holy Spirit.

Our Lord is faithful and desires for us to be transformed and prepared for heaven. God has sent the Holy Spirit to work with us, as He is the greatest Helper and Counselor we could have. By studying and meditating on God’s Word, we learn what needs to change within us. By asking the Holy Spirit to reveal the specific Bible verses that address our areas of need and by proclaiming these truths until they become deeply ingrained in our spirits, we can begin the process of improvement and overcome our weaknesses.

SUGGESTED PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your grace and for providing a way for me to change and overcome my weaknesses, addictions, and bad habits. Lord, please show me how to pray effectively and reveal what Your Word says about my shortcomings. Help me to fully understand the truth and to repeat it until I believe it in my spirit, so that it will bring about true change in me. You have always helped me, and I trust in Your continued assistance to overcome all situations in my life. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
