MONTHLY DEVOTIONAL FOR 3 APRIL

THE 3rd OF APRIL

BY TRUSTING IN GOD, WE FIND SUCCESS AND PEACEFUL SLEEP

Thus says the Lord: “… Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” – Jeremiah 17:5 a, 7-8

Through the words spoken to Jeremiah, the Lord reveals the essence of His blessings for those who put their trust in Him. Faith in God keeps us nourished and refreshed. When we prioritize Him and seek His guidance, we lack nothing. Yet, there are times in life when our responsibilities and burdens seem overwhelming.

As society advances, our lives become more demanding, leaving many feeling constantly exhausted and drained. The most common response to “How are you?” is often, “Good, but busy.” We fill our days with endless tasks, neglecting what truly benefits us and sacrificing rest in the process.

We often forget that true fulfillment comes from enjoying what we do, and that peace can be found in the midst of our work. Instead, we push ourselves to accomplish more, often at the expense of rest and quality sleep. When we are overtired, joy, peace, and contentment become scarce. But how do we fix this?

God designed our bodies to restore themselves during deep sleep. If we sleep lightly and wake at every little sound, we are not truly resting, and our bodies miss the rejuvenation they need. As a result, fatigue becomes a constant companion.

True rest comes when our minds disengage from active processing, allowing our bodies and brains to enter a state of renewal. To achieve this, we should take a few moments before bed to unwind—talking to God, surrendering our worries, and releasing the burdens that weigh on us.

We must lay everything at Jesus’ feet, asking the Holy Spirit to guide us to the right Scripture that aligns our prayers with God’s will. Whatever pain, offense, or problem we carry—especially those beyond our control—we can bring them before the Lord, confident that He hears and answers. When we do this faithfully, we will find peace, and restful, restorative sleep will follow.
