MONTHLY DEVOTIONAL FOR 30 OCTOBER

THE 30th OF OCTOBER

TRUE FREEDOM IS FOUND IN SERVING JESUS

“But thank God that, although you were once slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.” — Romans 6:17-18

A slave is bound to obey their master, belonging fully to them with duties but no personal rights. By choosing Jesus as our Lord, we belong to Him, bought by His sacrifice. As God’s children, we are called to follow His guidance and seek His will, rather than yielding to the desires of our flesh as we once did.

As Christians, we follow Jesus Christ and must obey Him as our true Lord. Our real master is the one we listen to and serve. Only by surrendering completely to God—letting go of our “ownership rights” and committing fully to the Holy Spirit—can we truly walk in holiness. We serve the one we obey; no one is their own master. This idea of self-rule is the enemy’s deception, designed to keep people from following Christ. We either choose Jesus as our Lord, or we give in to the desires of our flesh and fall under the enemy’s influence.

SUGGESTED PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for setting me free from the power of sin through the sacrifice of Your Son. Lord Jesus, thank You for being my Lord and for giving me righteousness. Help me to live rightly for You and to never return to sin’s grip. I want to stay true to You, living a life that pleases You. As Your child, I have found a life of true freedom, peace, and joy that will only grow more perfect in eternity. Thank You for all You have done and continue to do for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen
