MONTHLY DEVOTIONAL FOR 4 NOVEMBER

THE 4th OF NOVEMBER

TRUE FREEDOM COMES FROM BECOMING A SERVANT OF GOD

“But now, having been set free from sin and having become servants of God, you produce fruit that leads to holiness, and in the end, everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:22-23

The quality of life for a servant depends on their master. When we were servants of sin, even our best efforts fell short because of our fallen nature and the devil’s influence, which led us into sin or filled our good actions with wrong intentions. Satan doesn’t willingly release those he controls; he strives to lure believers back to their former sinful ways.

However, being a servant of God is entirely different! God doesn’t compel us to belong to Him or do good. Instead, He supports us when we seek help, but He always honors our free will and our choice to follow Him. In Christ, we experience true freedom! While we were bound by sin, we couldn’t choose to stop sinning—we were genuinely enslaved. But now, being born again, we can follow God’s will, bearing the fruit of holiness that leads to eternal life. God understands our hearts and weaknesses, and He works with us based on our sincerity and desires.

Because the wages of sin is death, those who remain in sin will ultimately face eternal separation from God in the lake of fire, the second death (Revelation 20:14). But those who live for Jesus have no reason to fear! To depart from this life is to enter into the presence of our Lord, where perfect peace, joy, and beauty await us for all eternity.

SUGGESTED PRAYER

Thank You, Lord, for the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ, my Savior! Thank You for setting me free from sin and for adopting me as Your beloved child. Please help me make wise choices and live a holy life, fully Yours forever. Fill me with peace and joy in faith, and grant me strong hope and confidence in Your promises. Glory and honor to Your Name, Lord Jesus, now and forever. Amen
