The 4th OF JULY
WE CAN LIVE BETTER LIVES, IF WE PRAY FOR OUR NATION
Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. – 1 Timothy 2:1-2
We are called to pray for other people, according to their need. It might be a petition, which is a very specific request for particular benefits an intercession, which is a prayer in its most individual form, as one enters into a close communion with God praying for someone else as for himself. Giving thanks for all that God does is very important too.
Praying for the leaders of our nation is another important part of our prayer life. Our citizenship is in heaven and that is where we are headed to, but while we are still here on earth, we do care for our nation and for the quality of life in the area we live in.
To pray for those in authority to fear God, be honest, have God’s wisdom and a heart for the people, is what we should do, and it contributes to a better life for us and our fellow citizens. The better examples the leaders set for the nation, the more godly people try to become and as a result integrity, peace, dignity and respect are increased throughout the nation.
SUGGESTED PRAYER
Thank You Lord for the power of prayer. Holy Spirit please help us be sensitive to Your voice and pray for the people You lay on our hearts. Please inspire us to pray right for those who need help in prayer and also for those in authority. Lord, please give us Your wisdom to be able to pray effectively for our leaders so that our nation will be blessed. Father God, please send the Holy Spirit to convince our fellow citizens of sin, to repent and start to live right, for You. Please help us all to fear You and live to glorify You, in the Name of Jesus we pray. Amen
