MONTHLY DEVOTIONAL FOR 5 NOVEMBER

THE 5th OF NOVEMBER

WE BELONG TO JESUS TO BEAR FRUIT FOR GOD

“Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another—to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God.” – Romans 7:4

As Christians, we receive the fullness of what Jesus achieved for us on the cross. Jesus fulfilled the law, and we now live under His grace. We cannot try to be saved by obeying the law through works and also be saved by His grace through faith. Jesus, the perfect sacrifice, died on the cross for our sins, making us dead to the law as well. This is true for every believer, whether Jew or Gentile. Now that we belong to Jesus, we understand that we cannot serve two “husbands.”

Paul explains that the Mosaic law was the first “husband” for Jewish believers, as they once looked to it for salvation. Now, through Jesus, we have a new “husband”—Christ Himself. When we are born in the Spirit through Christ, we belong to Him alone. Before knowing Jesus, we could not bear any fruit for God. But through the new life we have in Him, we are now able to produce good fruit that honors the Lord by following His will.

SUGGESTED PRAYER

Heavenly Father, You have prepared a perfect plan of salvation for us. Thank You for freeing me from the power of sin and granting me new life through Your Son. Jesus, You are my Lord, and I long to please You in all that I do. In Your unfailing love, You gave Your life so that I may truly live. Help me to bear fruit for You, in holiness and with pure motives, as an outflow of my new life in Christ. I am grateful, Lord, for all the care and provision You pour out on me. Amen
