MONTHLY DEVOTIONAL FOR 5th FEBRUARY

THE 5th OF FEBRUARY

HOW TO BE FILLED WITH GOD’S WORD

Let the word [spoken by] Christ (the Messiah) have its home [in your hearts and minds] and dwell in you in [all its] richness, as you teach and admonish and train one another in all insight and intelligence and wisdom [in spiritual things, and as you sing] psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, making melody to God with [His] grace in your hearts. – Colossians 3:16

For God’s Word to permeate every aspect of our lives, we must read and meditate on it, asking the Holy Spirit to teach us how to apply it in our everyday lives. Throughout our walk with Jesus, we are go through different stages. There are seasons when we are full of passion for God’s Word and to know our Lord more, so we use every possible chance we have for this purpose. But we can lose our fire for the Lord sometimes, when we go through a lot of problems and hard times or even when things go extremely well.

It is important that as soon as we realize that we are lacking in our hunger for the Word of God, to start asking God to give us a fresh desire for being in His presence and to be back in His Word. We can learn what God’s will is, only by studying His Word. If we choose to have a constant attitude of gratitude and thanksgiving, and to continue to renew our minds through the Word of God, not only will we be happier, but we can help those around us more, too.

SUGGESTED PRAYER

Dear Lord, please increase my hunger for Your Word and help me grow in knowing You. I know I cannot change myself, without Your help. I can become more and more like You, only by spending more time in Your presence. Please help me think of You in all I do, so I can hear when You speak to me through the Holy Spirit or the Scriptures. Thank You Father, for Your Word and for allowing me to enter into Your sweet presence, when I seek You with all my heart. Please increase my passion for You, more than anything else. Amen
