MONTHLY DEVOTIONAL FOR 6 DECEMBER

THE 6th OF DECEMBER

FORGIVENESS IS THE KEY: JUST AS GOD FORGAVE US IN CHRIST

“Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” – Ephesians 4:31-32

The apostle Paul, guided by the Holy Spirit, reminds us to let go of bitterness, anger, resentment, hostility, and slander. These harmful emotions and behaviors not only damage our own hearts but also harm those around us. As Christians, we are called to reject every form of malice, spitefulness, or verbal abuse, for such attitudes have no place in a life centered on Christ.

Instead, we are encouraged to practice kindness, compassion, and forgiveness, just as God, through Christ, has forgiven us. While forgiveness may sometimes require deep prayer and even fasting, the Holy Spirit empowers us to obey God’s will. In certain situations, the Spirit may also lead us to set boundaries with those who repeatedly and intentionally cause harm, ensuring our well-being while still walking in love.

SUGGESTED PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unfailing love and care through every challenge I face. Help me release all grudges, bitterness, and resentment, so I may remain free in Your presence. Teach me to truly forgive, show mercy, and extend kindness to those who have wronged me. Guide me in treating others as You desire, and grant me wisdom to protect myself from persistent harm. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen
