GOD’S WORD IS PERFECT, TRUE AND FULL OF WISDOM

The Law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. – Psalms 19:7

The Law of the Lord or Torah, contains the first five books of the Old Testament (also called the Pentateuch), given by the Lord to His people, through Moses. The Law makes us aware of sin and its content is perfect. We are not under the Law anymore, but under grace, as Jesus paid for our sins. This does not mean that we should not pay attention to what the Law says. Its commandments are still real and true for us, too. Through the Law we know what upsets our Lord and what we should stay away from.

We do not obey the Law to earn our salvation, but because we are saved by grace and we are born-again, we choose to obey its commandments and not sin. The Law is a guide that leads us on the path of the Lord. The Law is also God’s testimony, as it is bearing witness to His will and man’s duty and it is not uncertain or variable.

The study of the Law brings wisdom to everyone who does it. In the book of Proverbs, the simple man is the one who does not reject God’s will, but has no strong principles to fight against temptations and needs to be made wise.

The Law was fulfilled by Jesus, because He was the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all mankind. We are not obeying its commands to earn salvation, but because we love God and want to please Him and not sin.

SUGGESTED PRAYER

Dear Lord please help me pay attention to Your Law and Word to understand Your perfect will and obey it. Knowing what You like, refreshes my soul and gives me the confidence that I can live right for You. Dear Lord please show me what else I need to change in me and help me do it, so that I will have all it takes to be right-standing with You. There is so much wisdom in Your Word, Lord, please help me grasp more and more of it. Thank You and praise You for ever and ever. Amen
