THE 9th OF SEPTEMBER

ARE WE LED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT OR BY OUR FLESHLY DESIRES?

“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” – Galatians 5:16

Our sinful nature is inherently selfish, often driven by the question, “What about me?” However, a life led by the Holy Spirit is centered on God. The apostle Paul encourages us to consistently seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance and follow His leading—not just in church or occasionally, but in all aspects of life. When we do this, we can avoid acting impulsively. Instead, we pause, reflect on what Jesus would do in our situation, and act accordingly.

The natural response of our fleshly nature is often sinful, especially when things don’t go as expected. When we give in to the desires of our flesh, we cannot please God. There is a constant battle between our flesh and our renewed spirit, which is united with the Holy Spirit. The desires of the flesh lead to destruction, but the guidance of the Holy Spirit leads to what is best for us and to eternal life. To please God, we must resist the desires and temptations of our flesh. This is a long and challenging process, but with the Holy Spirit’s help, it is possible. The more we choose to follow His guidance, the easier it becomes.

SUGGESTED PRAYER

Thank You, Lord, for providing the Holy Spirit to help us live in a way that honors You. My flesh often leads me to feel offended when things don’t go my way. Please help me to act in all situations in the right way. Help me to always choose love, maintain peace and calm, and handle difficult situations with Your help. Thank You for Your perfect guidance, which turns bad situations for the better. Please keep my heart pure and full of love for You and others. In the Name of Jesus, I pray, Amen
