Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. – Psalm 103: 2
Lord our God, Almighty One, we are so blessed to call you Father, for only a Father grants his child all the good fruits of the earth. Only a Father endows his child with the knowledge and wisdom needed to move ahead in the world. A father protects, guides and saves. A father loves, cherishes and encourages. A father forgives and withholds all evil which could befall his child.
But you Lord are not just our Father, but our God, Who has filled us with your own Spirit, to transform us into children of God, righteous and sanctified. You help us lay aside our sinful nature and be lifted in spirit above all that is temporal and human. In spite of all the deadly evil around us, in spite of the abject misery of humankind, we may still rejoice in you, in all you do and will yet do for us.
Our hearts are overwhelmed and there are great outpourings of praise and gratitude from the whole of humanity for the gift of salvation and eternal life and for the exceptional sacrifice of our Lord Jesus. Your supernatural, divine dealings, form the foundation for praise, for you are faithful, good and righteous. The earth is filled with the jubilation of those you have so richly blessed. Deliver us from all the corruption that tries to take hold of our souls, and purify us to avoid sin, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
