Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light for my path. – Psalms 119:105
Dear Merciful Father, God of infinite Compassion, we magnify and glorify you for lavishing us with your steadfast love and faithfulness. We are your unworthy children, who need the guidance of your Holy Spirit in gauging the true meaning of your Holy word for the sake of our redemption. Lord, you have manifested abundantly the precepts and commands we need to follow to earn salvation.
Jesus, our Redeemer has already worked the path of our salvation, and we need direction to adhere to that path, to tread in your ways, to stand in the righteousness Jesus has earned for us by sacrificing his life for our sakes. We need to become righteous, by identifying our imperfections and shortcomings and recognizing the infirmities and transgressions that bring damnation in its wake and reproof from our God.
Lord, your gospel word is instrumental in instructing and enlightening our deadened minds and hearts, pointing to the path of truth and lighting our way to stay on track and not go off course, in the ways of worldliness and iniquity. It is a glorious light, revealing the person of Christ, his pure righteousness, and the salvation, and eternal life he has entitled us to, by our faith in him and you Lord, by living sober and godly lives. Lord, all Scripture is a lamp in the hand of a believer, to discern true and false doctrine. Help us shun obstacles and pits of the evil one, and help us walk in the way of Christ, in his Name. Amen
