Psalm 42: 1-2,5

22 August, 2020

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?…Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. Psalm 42:1–2,5

O Lord our God, each passing day draws us closer to you, enhancing our awareness that the earth is not our permanent abode. The pleasures of the earth are transient but your Divine Providence is everlasting. Yet, we choose fleeting pursuits and distance ourselves from you. Our hearts are tormented with the weight of our flagrant misdemeanors and craves your serene and beguiling presence as a salve to our depraved souls. You, Lord are our Rescuer and the Author of our life and salvation and your all-consuming and monumental love has chosen to take our haughty, arrogant, disdainful and maligned selves and remold us, transporting us from oblivion to eternity with you, our gracious Ruler. Life in you endows us with an inherent and tranquil harmony of the soul, enthralling us and transcending and surpassing all human comprehension and drenching our hearts with the living waters of your eternal love.Through our Lord Jesus’ example of love, service and sacrifice to the point of renouncing his life for our sakes, we resolve to consecrate our lives to you, our Sovereign King. We undertake to embrace and overcome our earthly travails by placing our hope and assurance in your eternal Covenant with us, whereby we will merit our just reward of residing in your glory forevermore, through Jesus our Lord. Amen
