TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
17 FEBRUARY, 2025
Mark 8:11-13
The Pharisees came forward and began to argue with Jesus,
seeking from him a sign from heaven to test him.
He sighed from the depth of his spirit and said,
“Why does this generation seek a sign?
Amen, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.”
Then he left them, got into the boat again,
and went off to the other shore.
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!
REFLECTION
In Mark 8:11-13, the Pharisees demand a sign from Jesus, testing Him rather than seeking truth. Jesus, deeply grieved by their hardened hearts, refuses to perform a miracle on demand. This passage reminds us that faith is not built on signs but on trust in God’s presence. Many times, we seek visible proof of His power, forgetting that His greatest works often happen in unseen ways—through grace, transformation, and daily provision. Jesus’ departure from the Pharisees warns us against a faith that is conditional. Instead of testing God, we should seek Him with open hearts, trusting that His timing and ways are perfect. True faith does not demand proof but rests in the assurance of His love and promises.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, forgive us when we seek signs instead of trusting in You. Strengthen our faith so that we may follow You wholeheartedly, even when we do not see immediate answers. Help us recognize Your presence in our daily lives and trust in Your divine wisdom. Soften our hearts so that we do not test You but rather surrender to Your perfect will. May we always seek You with sincerity, knowing that Your love and truth sustain us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
