TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
26 MARCH, 2025
Matthew 5:17-19
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets.
I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.
Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away,
not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter
will pass from the law,
until all things have taken place.
Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments
and teaches others to do so
will be called least in the Kingdom of heaven.
But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments
will be called greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!
In this passage, Jesus affirms that He did not come to abolish the Law or the Prophets but to fulfill them. He emphasizes the enduring nature of God’s commandments and calls His followers to uphold them with sincerity. This reminds us that God’s Word is eternal and that obedience to His teachings is an expression of our love for Him. As disciples, we are invited not just to follow the law externally but to embrace its deeper meaning—love, justice, and mercy.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your eternal Word that guides our lives. Help us to understand and live according to Your commandments, not out of obligation but out of love for You. May we reflect Your truth in our actions, teaching others by our example. Strengthen us to follow Christ, who fulfills the law in perfect love. Amen
