TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
7 MARCH, 2025
Matthew 9:14-15

The disciples of John approached Jesus and said,
“Why do we and the Pharisees fast much,
but your disciples do not fast?”
Jesus answered them, “Can the wedding guests mourn
as long as the bridegroom is with them?
The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them,
and then they will fast.”

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

In this passage, John’s disciples question Jesus about fasting, and He responds by comparing Himself to a bridegroom. While He is with them, it is a time for joy, not mourning. This teaches us that our faith is not just about rituals but about recognizing the presence of Christ in our lives. There are times for fasting and discipline, but there are also times to rejoice in His nearness. Our spiritual practices should draw us closer to Him, not become mere obligations.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, You are the bridegroom of our souls, always inviting us into a deeper relationship with You. Help us to discern the right times for fasting and feasting, for discipline and joy. May we never lose sight of Your presence in our lives. Strengthen our faith so that all we do is done out of love for You. Amen
