And, with all these, take up the great shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming arrows of the evil one. – Ephesians 6:16
O All-Powerful God, of Might and Majesty, you are gracious and compassionate. You shepherd us on the paths of righteousness, even though we prove undeserving of your grace. You have equipped us with all we need to inherit the princely favors of the heavenly realms. Through our Lord Jesus, your Son, you have given us deliverance and redemption and revealed the path to salvation.
Submission to your perfect plans for us, obedience to your Holy Will and following your word by execution and application of your doctrines and tenets so clearly deciphered and enumerated for us through the dogma of faith, is everything that will lead us on the path of truth. Your Holy Spirit is our constant guide and counselor. Yet, by our own wilful ineptitude, we flounder into temptation and weakly surrender to the conniving attacks of Satan and the furious desires he exposes us to.
Endow us Lord, with the spirit of warding the evil one away by the very resilience of the strong shield of our creed, building it up to defeat the astute and vile enemy of our salvation. We cannot repel the devil and the consummate skill of cunning he uses without the implicit faith and trust that you Lord, are at the helm, with your mighty army of spiritual warriors. May the flame of our faith in the gospel truths never be subdued, but produce the merits and graces of the Lord Jesus, as we continue to wield our shield of faith to defend our honor and extinguish the flaming artillery of the wicked one, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
