Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign. Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel. – Isaiah 7:14
Almighty God, we behold your Glory and Majesty and become more greatly aware of our unworthiness before you, for we have fallen in our own esteem by the extent of our sinfulness and worldly attachments. We are undeserving of your love and mercy, yet your perfect nature is unchanging and your plan for our lives has, from the beginning of the world, included a plan for our salvation, knowing we would fall to temptation.
You ordained your only Son to become incarnate and die for our transgressions, so that by his compensation, our sins would be forgiven and washed away and by his death we would attain eternal life. Such perfection can be accomplished only by you, Lord, for although you created us in your image and likeness, we were unable to grow to perfection such as yours, having fallen away from you. It is when we follow your Holy Word that we can abide in you and so your Word was made flesh, to rescue us from eternal damnation.
Father, we are eternally grateful that we have a compassionate, Ever-living God, who helps us when we are in danger. We are thankful for our Messiah, Whose coming was prophesied and we adore and worship you Lord, for holding fast to your promises. We will follow our Lord Immanuel, for the rest of our days, for only then can we be deemed worthy of calling ourselves your children and worthy to attain your beneficence in your Heavenly Presence, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
