I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind. Even to give to each man according to his ways, according to the results of his deeds.
Jeremiah 17:10
Almighty Father, you are Holiness embodied, and you knew even before creating man, how treacherous, fickle minded and wicked, mortals would be, betraying their Creator and chasing the pleasures of the earth. Lord, you are Omniscient and nothing can escape or lie hidden from you. You can delve into the most secret corners of our minds and hearts, and trace our intentions.
Our hypocrisy and wily behavior and deeds distanced us from your perfect Being. And our wickedness compelled you to send your beloved Son to save us from our heinous deeds. Jesus had to unburden all our transgressions and take it upon himself, becoming the sin you so despised and destroying it with his death. Yes Lord, on our own, we would have perished but your love and compassion rescued us.
We are infinitely sorry and detest our sinful deeds, knowing that they give you sorrow and pain. You search our secret thoughts, divining our motives, and we know we have to bear the consequences of all our misdeeds. Help us Lord, we confess our feeble ways and renounce our sins. Be merciful in judging us sinners, as we repent and seek your grace and favor, cleaving to your goodness, resolutely surrendering in obedience of your Will, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
