MONTHLY DEVOTIONAL FOR 13 MARCH

THE 13th OF MARCH

IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO RESIST THE DEVIL AND OBEY GOD

“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” – James 4:7

If we accept the enemy’s lies that creep into our thoughts—such as believing that God is responsible for our suffering or that He desires our sickness—we become passive and fail to exercise the authority given to us in Jesus’ Name. We cannot fight effectively without standing on the truth. True power comes from unwavering faith that we are in God’s will and that He is our helper. On our own, we can do nothing, but “we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us” (Philippians 4:13).

To combat the enemy’s deception, we must maintain a pure heart before God, live in obedience to Him, and understand the authority we have in the Name of Jesus (for further study, refer to “The Authority of the Believer” and “Spiritual Warfare”).

Scripture makes it clear that healing aligns with God’s will. To stand against the enemy, we must know our identity in Christ, our rights as believers, and the power we have to resist the devil in Jesus’ Name. Our authority comes from the fact that the spiritual realm recognizes Jesus, who holds all power in heaven and on earth.

Satan is fully aware that Jesus triumphed over him at the cross, that death could not hold Him, and that He rose from the grave, ascended to heaven, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father (Ephesians 1:20). As believers who have been born again and live in obedience to God, we are also “seated together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6). Therefore, when we pray or declare something in Jesus’ Name, the forces of darkness must submit.

SUGGESTED PRAYER

Thank You, Lord, for granting me power in the Name of Jesus to stand against the lies and attacks of the enemy. Thank You, Jesus, for accomplishing all that is necessary for me to live victoriously! You desire for me to walk in righteousness and resist the enemy so that I may receive the blessings You have prepared for me. Please help me to genuinely repent whenever I fall short and to never leave an open door for the enemy to attack me. Thank You, Lord! In Jesus’ Name, Amen
