MONTHLY DEVOTIONAL FOR 16 OCTOBER

THE 16th OF OCTOBER

BELIEF OR UNBELIEF?

Abraham “did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.” – Romans 4:20-21

As we wait for God to answer our prayers, our human nature often tempts us to doubt His promises. When we entertain those doubts, they grow, undermining our faith and leaving us with nothing in return. The more frequently this occurs, the harder it becomes to have faith in future situations.

When we notice doubt creeping in, we must immediately begin to declare and stand on God’s promises for our prayer requests. To receive from God, what we ask for must align with His will. We can be confident of this if we find support in Scripture—multiple verses or passages that apply to our needs within their proper context. Doubt challenges us all, but the sooner we reject it and hold fast to God’s promises, the more our faith will grow, and we will receive what we have prayed for.

SUGGESTED PRAYER

Thank You, Father God, for the promises found in Your Word. Holy Spirit, guide me in finding the right Scriptures to support my prayers and reveal God’s will in every matter. Help me to grow in faith, rejecting unbelief so that I may pray in alignment with Your will and receive what I ask for. Lord, keep me rooted in You and Your Word, so that I may receive whatever I ask in Jesus’ Name. Glory and honor be to Your holy Name, forever and ever. Amen
