THE 19TH OF MARCH
OUR WORDS REFLECT OUR HEARTS
“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” – Luke 6:45
The words we speak reveal what is in our hearts. When we use kind, uplifting, and encouraging words from pure and grateful hearts, we bless others and glorify God. However, words filled with negativity—such as curses, insults, and criticism—do not come from the Lord but rather from an unclean heart. The source of all evil is not God but our fallen nature or the influence of the enemy. Therefore, we must strive to keep our hearts pure and ask the Holy Spirit for guidance.
Every thought, word, and action has eternal significance. While this may seem like an overstatement, careful reflection reveals its truth. Our words and reactions stem from our thoughts. If we allow negative thoughts planted by the enemy to take root and grow in our minds, they will produce harmful emotions in our hearts. Then, in moments of surprise or vulnerability, we may find ourselves speaking words we later regret—because “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.”
By refusing to nurture thoughts of criticism, judgment, or negativity, we can avoid unnecessary conflicts and pain.
SUGGESTED PRAYER
Dear Lord, help me transform my thinking so that negative thoughts no longer take root in my mind or produce harmful emotions in my heart. Teach me to be mindful of my thoughts, to bring them under the authority of Jesus Christ, and to declare Your truth according to Scripture. Thank You for guiding me to think in alignment with Your Word, to maintain a pure heart, and to follow Your will more closely. Glory to Your holy Name. Amen
