THE 22nd OF JULY
GOD’S CHILDREN ARE LED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.'” – Romans 8:14-15
No one can be led by the Holy Spirit without believing in Jesus and being born again. Once we become God’s children, we begin to follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance. Some Christians may not recognize the source of the spontaneous thoughts the Holy Spirit places in their minds, assuming they are simply their own thoughts because they originate internally.
When we were touched by the Holy Spirit, believed in Jesus as the Son of God, and asked Him to be our Lord, we entered into a special relationship with God as His children. This relationship is not one of bondage or slavery filled with fear, but a Father-child relationship where the child inherits from the Father. Through the Holy Spirit, we are adopted by God and can call Him “Abba, Father.”
SUGGESTED PRAYER
Dear Lord, I am so grateful for being led by Your Holy Spirit and being Your child. I am adopted into Your family, and I can call You my Father! Thank You for this incredible privilege! I did nothing to deserve this; it is all because of Your amazing grace and love! I am not a slave living in fear, but Your beloved child, and all You ask of me is to love and obey Your will. I know Your will is the best for me, and there is no greater love than the love You have for me. Thank You and praise You forever and ever. Amen
