THE 29TH OF MARCH
THE FREEDOM WE HAVE IN CHRIST IS NOT A LICENSE TO SIN
“Everything is permissible for me, but not all things are beneficial. Everything is permissible for me, but I will not be enslaved by anything [nor brought under its power, allowing it to control me].” – 1 Corinthians 6:12
If we knowingly choose sin despite understanding its wrongfulness, sin will gain control over us. In doing so, we no longer belong to Jesus but to the devil, the origin of sin. This choice shuts God out of our lives, along with His grace, and hardens our hearts against the Holy Spirit.
Loving Jesus means rejecting sin; we can no longer embrace it. When people justify their sins, their true master is no longer Jesus but sin itself, for we are slaves to whatever we obey (Romans 6:16).
As followers of Christ, nothing should have power over us. God does not impose His will upon us—He grants us the freedom to choose. However, the devil seeks to manipulate and deceive us into sin.
Once we fall into his snare, he accuses us, making us believe that God no longer loves us and that forgiveness is out of reach. This is why Scripture repeatedly warns us to hate sin and flee from it, lest we become ensnared.
SUGGESTED PRAYER
Dear Heavenly Father, help me grasp the true danger of sin and the heavy price it carries. Grant me wisdom to recognize the traps set before me and the strength to guard my heart. Fill me with such love for You that nothing in this world can entice me away. Give me a deep passion for You and for studying Your Word, that my greatest joy may be found in Your presence and in fulfilling Your will. Teach me to depend entirely on You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen
