LET’S LIVE WHAT WE PREACH
The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. – Philippians 4:9
The early church did not have the New Testament in a written form, as we do today. In many places, including Philippi, the apostles were the only source of information about how to follow Jesus. The Lord sent Paul to the Gentiles to preach the Gospel and plant churches.
To be able to continue to disciple the new Christians while he was in prison, or already planting churches elsewhere, Paul wrote them letters, which today, many have become epistles of the Bible. The apostles were totally sold out to Jesus and their lives were exemplary for others. They truly lived what they preached.
In 1 Corinthians 11:1, Paul wrote: “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.” And he truly did. By Paul’s example of faith and ministry, the church was blessed throughout history, and we are still blessed today. The more we imitate Christ, the more peace we have and the more our needs will be met by our Lord.
God is the source of all good and He wants us to have abundant lives, lacking nothing. But we are to choose to live right, fulfilling His will. By seeking to please God and following His counsel, we can avoid much heartache, stress, and the effects of bad choices.
SUGGESTED PRAYER
My beloved Lord, please help me imitate You in all I do. You have set the perfect example by the way You lived while being in a human body. You have always done the will of Father God and never sinned. Father, please help me understand and learn Your Word and apply it in my life. Please help me to always remember that You are the only source for my peace and well-being. In the Name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
