TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
11 MARCH, 2025
Matthew 6:7-15
Jesus said to his disciples:
“In praying, do not babble like the pagans,
who think that they will be heard because of their many words.
Do not be like them.
Your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
“This is how you are to pray:
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
“If you forgive men their transgressions,
your heavenly Father will forgive you.
But if you do not forgive men,
neither will your Father forgive your transgressions.”
THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!
In this passage, Jesus teaches us how to pray, emphasizing sincerity over empty repetition. He introduces the Lord’s Prayer as a model, guiding us to seek God’s will, daily provision, forgiveness, and protection. True prayer is about relationship, not ritual—God already knows our needs, but He desires our hearts to be aligned with Him. This passage reminds us that forgiveness is key in our spiritual lives; just as we ask for God’s mercy, we must extend it to others.
Heavenly Father, thank You for teaching us how to pray with sincerity and trust. Help us to seek You with humble hearts, not just with words but with true faith. Provide for our needs, forgive our sins, and give us the grace to forgive others as You have forgiven us. Lead us away from temptation and protect us from evil. May our lives reflect Your kingdom, power, and glory. Amen
