TODAY’S GOSPEL READING
28 MARCH, 2025
Mark 12:28-34

One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him,
“Which is the first of all the commandments?”
Jesus replied, “The first is this:
Hear, O Israel!
The Lord our God is Lord alone!
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your mind,
and with all your strength.
The second is this:
You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
There is no other commandment greater than these.”
The scribe said to him, “Well said, teacher.
You are right in saying,
He is One and there is no other than he.
And to love him with all your heart,
with all your understanding,
with all your strength,
and to love your neighbor as yourself
is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
And when Jesus saw that he answered with understanding,
he said to him,
“You are not far from the Kingdom of God.”
And no one dared to ask him any more questions.

THE GOSPEL OF THE LORD!

REFLECTION

In this passage, Jesus is asked about the greatest commandment. His response is both simple and profound: Love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself. These two commandments sum up all of God’s law. This reminds us that true faith is not about rituals alone but about a relationship—one rooted in love. Loving God fully transforms our hearts, and loving others is the natural outflow of that love. Jesus also tells the scribe that he is “not far from the kingdom of God,” showing that understanding is not enough—we must live out love in action.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, teach me to love You with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. Help me to reflect Your love in my relationships, treating others with kindness, compassion, and respect. May my faith not be just words, but a life lived in love. Draw me closer to Your kingdom by guiding me to love as Jesus taught. Amen
